St. Ferdinand is the institutional sponsor of Cub Scout pack 939, a chartered unit of the Boy Scouts of America. The Cub Scout program attempts to teach a young boy good citizenship and social responsibility, based on the principles of duty to God, duty to country, duty to others, and duty to self. This is accomplished through a program geared to a variety of group activities such as crafts, skits, games, a food drive, pinewood derby, field trips, and other fun-type endeavors. The emphasis is placed on self-improvement ("doing your best"), rather than winning or losing. Membership is open to any boy in the parish in first through fifth grade (between the ages of 7 and 10).
